It was fitting for the fourth reunion of 1st Composite Radio Company to be scribed on Memorial Day. Our reunion, which took place in Alexandria, VA., served as a window for all those participating of the Marine Corps and to its service to our great nation.

Over twenty of us descended on the Residence Inn, Alexandria, Virginia on 15 May 2008. Jack Williams (JW) spared no gray matter in execution his plan ensuring our reception, accommodations and comfort where matters about which we would not worry. He made sure the Duke Room (our meeting room) was well appointed, opened and well stocked with snacks and drinks. He even arranged to have one of the hotel’s security guard’s, a Marine, wear his security uniform with Marine medals. This and more was done without fan-fair as the next several paragraphs take you through our reunion in the greater Washington D.C. area.
Most of the arrival day was freelance. Some took advantage of the Washington Metro system and toured our nation’s capital. Others were more inclined to become comfortable with the surrounding area of our home away from home. In easy walking distance were the Potomac waterfront and its shops and restaurants. King Street, the main drag this child of the 50’s would say, was filled with all types of shops, restaurants, clubs, bars and pubs. Yes, there were a couple of Irish Pubs for those who love a little taste of Ireland—Irish music and Guinness, that is. Brenda Muollo, who is already familiar with the area, actually, found and arranged for our reunion dinner at one of those fine establishments along King Street; only “eight blocks” away from the hotel.
