Was born in Raleigh, N.C. August 9, 1943. Spent most of my youth in N.C. but at 12 years of age moved to Philadelphia, Pa. Returned to N.C. until 16 years old and moved back to Philadelphia.

Dropped out of high school after completing 10th grade and joined the Marine Corps and sworn in on Jan.3, 1961. Received my GED while in the Corps and that was the extent of my education. Boot camp at P.I., school at Pensacola then on to Kaneohe Bay. Went to Pleiku in Sept. of 1962 and was one of a few that extend for a second tour and moved up to Phu Bai. Last duty station was Camp Lejune and was discharged in December of 1964.

Met my wife in 1965 and was married in 1968. Just celebrated our 40th anniversary this May. Have 3 children (1 adopted) and 10 grandchildren.

Went to work for a steel company in Philadelphia 2 weeks after getting discharged.

Spent 6 years there and bought a scrap yard and ran it for 15 years. Sold the shop and returned to the same steel company. Worked my way up to an Engineering title (although no degree) and retired in 2006. Still work part time though, 3 days a week for the same company.

Like so many of us I sometime wish I had stayed in the Corp but then I would not have met my wife and have the family that I enjoy. So things worked out fine the way they are.

Feel lucky to have re-united with this group after so many years and look forward to many more reunions. Of all things other than family being a MARINE is the proudest accomplishment in my life.
