I ended up with you guys because I had a Boy Scout Merit Badge for Morse Code. When they sat my platoon (202) down  in a room at Parris Island, put headsets over our ears and started sending code, I just picked up the pencil and started writing. The rest is history.

Intercept school in Pensacola,  chasing ditties with Detachment Alpha with 3rd RRU in Phu Bai,  DF with MRD-16 & PRD-1 at 1st Composite Radio Co in K-Bay,  DF at NDT6 Kami Seya, Japan Net Control Western Pacific, PRD-1 in RVN 1966-67 (Hill 327,Dong Ha, 33 days on The Rock Pile, Artillery Plateau then back to Dong Ha),  Traffic Analyst School in Ft. Devon, vacation side trips to Germany & Panama Canal Zone with 2nd Radio Bn,  back to Pensacola for P&R school as a rebellious S/Sgt and then in January 1970 I felt it was time to be a civilian again. Anyone remember the Pueblo?

I returned to Atlanta and worked in the Marine (Boats) business both in service and sales for six years and then started an Evinrude dealership with a friend in Marietta, GA.  In 1978, Evinrude asked me to join their Field Service Department and over the years I worked my way up to Regional Sales Manager covering Evinrude, Johnson and OMC Stern Drives.

I have four children, who are all over the country, and three Grandchildren.

I’m retired now and still playing with antique cars, street rods, and building carburetion systems for speed shops & restoration shops. It is what I loved to do in High School and I’ve never gotten it out of my system.

Remember:  “You’re Never Too Old To Have A Happy Childhood”
