I arrived to 1st Composite Radio Company in July of 1961, just after Radio School.  I was assigned to the first Detachment to Pleiku, Viet Nam.  Was there four months, contracted Malaria and came back with the Detachment.  Was discharged in April of 1963.

Settled in Tucson, AZ and went on to pumping gas, pest control and ended up in a discount automotive department.  My wife, Carmen, and I moved to Phoenix for a better job opportunity, in 1974.  I tried to go back into the Marine Reserves, but was told I was too old.

I then meet a Sergeant in the AZ National Guard who talked me into a "Try One" enlistment.  That turned into 17 years and a retirement.  I always thought of myself as a Marine in an Army uniform.
